Privacy notice
Last updated 21 September 2026. English law. These pages are for the live UK service.
This notice explains how the operator of LendHands (trading as LendHands in the United Kingdom) uses personal data. Contact: hello@lendhands.co.uk. UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 apply. We are the controller for this app.
What we collect
To run an account we need a name and an email address. If you complete a profile or post a job we also store what you choose to give us, which can include:
- password (stored as a hash, never in plain text)
- profile photo, bio, skills, and whether you want work
- address, postcode and map pin so jobs can be grouped by area
- job title, description, photos, dates and location
- private messages between you and another user
- reviews and star ratings
- country of registration if you allow location for that check
- platform fee records (amount, product, success or fail) — not the card number
- waiting-list name and email if you join before launch
- rough time spent in the app, so community stats work
- an anonymous visitor id used only for owner statistics
We do not store full debit or credit card numbers, CVCs or Google Pay wallet PANs. Card payment is handled by the payment provider or the wallet on your phone. We never sell your data.
Why we use it
- to create and secure your account (contract)
- to show listings and let you message about a job (contract)
- to take platform fees and send payment emails (contract)
- to keep the service safe and remove illegal content (legal obligation / legitimate interests)
- to understand how many people visit, if you are the public site (legitimate interests)
- cookies and remembered email only if you accept cookies (consent)
Who sees it
Other users see the public parts of your profile and adverts (name, photo, area, ratings, job photos). Full house number is for arranging the job, not for a public directory. Private chat is only visible to the two people in that chat and to the site owner if needed to deal with abuse or a legal request. Hosting, email and payment providers process data for us under contract. We do not pass data to advertisers.
How long we keep it
Account and listing data stays while the account is open. If you delete the account we remove the profile and public listings. We may keep payment records and emails as long as tax and accounting rules require (usually up to six years). Messages about a live dispute may be kept until that is closed.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, delete it (where the law allows), or object to some uses. Write to the email above. You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
More on cookies is on the cookies page. Terms of the service are in the terms and conditions.
